Now more than ever we depend on the internet on our lifelihoods and with more ways to connect, the question is what keeps this secure. The answer is SSL or “Secure Sockets Layer”. SSL instantly encrypts passwords and credit card detail numbers into data that only the user and the website can decrypt. SSL also insures that the data remains unchanged and also authenticates websites too.

All modern browsers show warning signs when the connection is not entirely secure. To verify that SSL is protecting a page, look for a web address beginning with https:// and a closed padlock sign.

SSL works at keeping your data secure and private.

SSL is the standard security technology for establishing an encrypted link between a web server and a browser. This link ensures that all data passed between the web server and browsers remain private and integral. SSL is an industry standard and is used by millions of websites in the protection of their online transactions with their customers.

A bit more indept look at how it works and how you set it up

To be able to create an SSL connection a web server requires an SSL Certificate. When you choose to activate SSL on your web server you will be prompted to complete a number of questions about the identity of your website and your company. Your web server then creates two cryptographic keys – a Private Key and a Public Key. 

The Public Key does not need to be secret and is placed into a Certificate Signing Request (CSR) – a data file also containing your details. You should then submit the CSR. During the SSL Certificate application process, the Certification Authority will validate your details and issue an SSL Certificate containing your details and allowing you to use SSL. Your web server will match your issued SSL Certificate to your Private Key. Your web server will then be able to establish an encrypted link between the website and your customer’s web browser. 

The complexities of the SSL protocol remain invisible to your customers. Instead their browsers provide them with a key indicator to let them know they are currently protected by an SSL encrypted session – the lock icon in the lower right-hand corner, clicking on the lock icon displays your SSL Certificate and the details about it. All SSL Certificates are issued to either companies or legally accountable individuals. 

Typically an SSL Certificate will contain your domain name, your company name, your address, your city, your state and your country. It will also contain the expiration date of the Certificate and details of the Certification Authority responsible for the issuance of the Certificate. When a browser connects to a secure site it will retrieve the site’s SSL Certificate and check that it has not expired, it has been issued by a Certification Authority the browser trusts, and that it is being used by the website for which it has been issued. If it fails on any one of these checks the browser will display a warning to the end user letting them know that the site is not secured by SSL.

Testimonials are the most overlooked conversion tools in online marketing.

Your visitor to your website is looking at what you are offering and they might not be quite sure whether they want to purchase your goods or service.

At that moment a voice comes in but it is not the usual marketing voice that says: You should buy now. No matter how good you are that marketing voice is never completely trustworthy.

But this voice that comes in is different. It is from someone that is just like your visitor. Someone who has been where your visitor is right now. The voice is saying: I know how you feel and where you are right now. I was in your position. I chose to sign up or purchase and the result was great.

A lot of websites do not have them …

In fact a quarter of websites do not utilise testimonials on their website. Why is that:

1. You have to asked for them.
2. They are delivered aqwardly, as an image, as a text or with images that are too big or too much on that and you tend to stick in in a folder with a view to get to them later.
3. Or if you are wanting a landing page right now and you have to hunt for testimonials, it takes time.
4. So in a way they are very inconvenient to get together

How to help your visitor to leave a testimonial that works for you too?

There’s nothing salesy about asking people what they thought.

The critical points to include in your message are:
1) that they’re helping other people (because it really does make us feel safer when we see testimonials),
2) that this will be quick and painless, and
3) an estimate of how long it will take (the shorter the better)

Question #1:  “What was your biggest fear / worry / concern before hiring us/me?  Did it come true, and if not, what happened instead?”

But finding out what people were afraid of, and showing potential clients (in past clients’ words) that they need not worry is one of the most powerful persuasion tools you have at your disposal. You can even become specific and address one particular concern.  

Question #2:  What, specifically, was your favorite part of _____, and why?”

Concrete, tangible examples sell.  Vague and intangible words do not such as “we had a lot of fun” …. instead of “They motiavated us to bring out the best in ourselves”

Pulling out concrete examples to make your prospective clients’ eyes shine.

Question #3:  “If you were to recommend us to your best friend, what would you say?”

Your testimonials should sound human and not like corporate speak and official. Give them permission to speak as if they sit across the table of a friend and tell him about what they experienced.

The appointment booking system also allows to issue discounts and coupons as well as displaying extras that can be purchased. 

Office staff can access a special front desk screen allowing to modify or add bookings.

Images & photos on your website

Images can speak a thousand words! So, of course they are important components of each website.

You will need to supply us with the images / photos you want to use on your website. Please make sure that you only use images / photos that are your intellectual property or that are licensed for you to use it. Basically, do not just find one nice image on the web and use it on your website. There are several websites that provide royality free images that you can use.

Remember, our strength is in creating a very personal website for you, capturing and portraying your essence on your website. Using your own material just seems vital in the process.
