• Support only mining customers behind a gated login or IP whitelist

• Enable “quote cart” workflows—users pick items and quantities, review their basket, then submit a single RFQ to Westernex sales

Lately in my business it is all about getting better media exposure, getting a better rank on Google etc. You know that I still am an advocate of stimulating the organic growth of a business which does not mean we can not engage free and clever services that are just waiting to be utilised.

One of these are the Google Reviews. The more reviews you have, the better a user that found you googling has an understanding on what he can expect from your services.
 

So how do you get one and then use it

What we are doing is, we are creating a link that we give our client that conveniently leads them to the review page. In order to be able to create such a link, you need to have a Google Business account.

Create or check your Google Business account

Next, once the Google Business account is setup (most of you have one already), create a link that you can send to your clients or have it setup in your mail signature and / or on your website. Please make sure that you use the “Create a link using the PlaceID Lookup Tool” on the link provided underneath as it works much better.

Now more than ever we depend on the internet on our lifelihoods and with more ways to connect, the question is what keeps this secure. The answer is SSL or “Secure Sockets Layer”. SSL instantly encrypts passwords and credit card detail numbers into data that only the user and the website can decrypt. SSL also insures that the data remains unchanged and also authenticates websites too.

All modern browsers show warning signs when the connection is not entirely secure. To verify that SSL is protecting a page, look for a web address beginning with https:// and a closed padlock sign.

SSL works at keeping your data secure and private.

SSL is the standard security technology for establishing an encrypted link between a web server and a browser. This link ensures that all data passed between the web server and browsers remain private and integral. SSL is an industry standard and is used by millions of websites in the protection of their online transactions with their customers.

A bit more indept look at how it works and how you set it up

To be able to create an SSL connection a web server requires an SSL Certificate. When you choose to activate SSL on your web server you will be prompted to complete a number of questions about the identity of your website and your company. Your web server then creates two cryptographic keys – a Private Key and a Public Key. 

The Public Key does not need to be secret and is placed into a Certificate Signing Request (CSR) – a data file also containing your details. You should then submit the CSR. During the SSL Certificate application process, the Certification Authority will validate your details and issue an SSL Certificate containing your details and allowing you to use SSL. Your web server will match your issued SSL Certificate to your Private Key. Your web server will then be able to establish an encrypted link between the website and your customer’s web browser. 

The complexities of the SSL protocol remain invisible to your customers. Instead their browsers provide them with a key indicator to let them know they are currently protected by an SSL encrypted session – the lock icon in the lower right-hand corner, clicking on the lock icon displays your SSL Certificate and the details about it. All SSL Certificates are issued to either companies or legally accountable individuals. 

Typically an SSL Certificate will contain your domain name, your company name, your address, your city, your state and your country. It will also contain the expiration date of the Certificate and details of the Certification Authority responsible for the issuance of the Certificate. When a browser connects to a secure site it will retrieve the site’s SSL Certificate and check that it has not expired, it has been issued by a Certification Authority the browser trusts, and that it is being used by the website for which it has been issued. If it fails on any one of these checks the browser will display a warning to the end user letting them know that the site is not secured by SSL.

An important part of your website ranking with search engines is that other websites find your content interesting and display a link to your website.

Here you find a list of websites that are happy to exchange a link with you. You can utilise it to your liking.

Link exchange has been a practice in the internet ever since. And it is a good practice too – if you do it right. Link exchange has a potential to positively impact site traffic and improve business relations.

I give you a link, you reciprocate, everyone’s happy, right? If only it were as easy as that.

Link Exchange

There are a lot of factors why you could consider link exchange. Here are some reasons:

• Their website is related to my site topics / niche and it not in competition with your website.
• Their website is valuable information, good navigation and looks professional.
• Their website does not exchange with hundreds of other websites – meaning my links are highly valuable and theirs is a commodity.
• They do not give out “nofollow” links. The search engine would never get to your website.

Link exchange helps but one-way links are the best. Exchanged links give a lot less link juice compared to one-way. I personally think it’s better to improve your site content and user-friendliness in order to get one-way links rather than investing your time asking around for link exchanges. It’s simply not worth it.

Internal Linking

This link building strategy is, of course, the easiest one to do. Why? Well because it’s a factor that you can manipulate 100% since the link is located within your website.

Internal linking helps search engine spiders find new content within your website. It also makes navigation easier for your readers in case they want more resources from you.

The best internal links are located inside your article and should not be clustered at the end of your content. You can have clustered related posts links but you should still also do internal linking on your own.

Blog commenting

Blog commenting used to be one clean linkbuilding game. Now blog commenting is generally frowned upon as a linkbuilding method. Most blogs have nofollowed blog comment links which makes any link that you build in their site useless when it comes to passing out page rank.

Scout out for blogs with a good amount of readers, great content and “dofollow” comment links if you are commenting for link building purposes.

Paid Links

Paying for links is an investment. But, like all investments, you have to choose and pick the cream of the crop. Pick the best website or blog – then pick the best webpage they have – then pick the best spot in that page. It would be best if your link is within the article itself. But if you can ask for a link in the sidebar, then all the better.

Make sure that you don’t use link brokers. Link brokers cannot give you any good link. All their links are already devalued by Google – because it is against Google’s webmaster guidelines to buy links in the first place. And since link brokers are most probably already identified by Google, buying from them will get you nowhere.

Social Media

These links are all nofollowed. Meaning they are useless when it comes to building page rank. However, building page rank is not the point when using social media. The main purpose of linkbuilding through social media is for your links to attract people in different social networks.

The purpose of this link building strategy is to get links outside the social networks through the people inside them.

Link Baiting

This link building strategy is arguably the best choice when it comes to effective one way link building. Link baiting is all about creating good, quality content to attract one-way links from people who deem your article worthy of attention.

Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is the process of improving the volume or quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via organic search results from Google, Bing and the other search engines.

Generally, the higher a websites shows on a search engine page, the more visitors and traffic that website will receive.

Search engine optimization, in its simplest form, means thinking about the words or phrases that people might use to find your business and your website, and writing content that includes those words and phrases.

Feeding the right information from your website to the search engines

SEO has become big business and it is not always as successful as one would hope it to be. Fact is that a lot of time and money goes into feeding those search engines the right information in order to grab a higher ranking listing.

Generally, the search engines  look at titles, descriptions, meta tags, image descriptions, linking within the website, links from the outside that feed into your website indicating that your website is of interest to others. They engage comprehensive algorithms to make sure that the information is not just only set up to get a higher listing but the information on your website is actually relevant to what you are portraying.

Website owners often highly desire that their site appears in the top 10 in a search engine search. This is because users are not very likely to look over more than one search engine results page (also known as SERPs). In order to obtain good placement on search results in the various engines, webmasters must optimize their web pages. The process is called search engine optimization. Many variables come into play, such as the placement and density of desirable keywords, the hierarchy structure of web pages employed in a web site (i.e.. Votes cast by pages that are themselves “important” weigh more heavily and help to make other pages important. Using these and other factors, Google provides its views on pages’ relative importance.
